Our Beliefs
Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture. We believe there is no other book more helpful and relevant for today than the Bible.
Following is our doctrinal statement, which encompasses our foundational beliefs along with the Scriptural evidence for them. Our leadership team would love to answer any questions you might have. You may send them an email at [email protected].
God
We believe in one God who is the Creator and sustainer of all things, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and is loving and just in all His relations. He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and holy.
Deuteronomy 6:4, Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:18-19, 1 John 4:7-9
Christ
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and became a man while remaining fully God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful people. We believe He accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a perfect substitutionary sacrifice making salvation available to all men. We believe our redemption and salvation are guaranteed by His literal physical resurrection from the dead.
John 8:58, Matthew 1:18-25, Hebrews 9:12-14, Romans 8:34
The Bible
We believe the Bible was written by human authors and inspired by God, and that every word of the Bible, in its entirety, is without error in the original manuscripts. We believe the Bible is the final and complete authority in our lives.
2 Timothy 3:16, John 17:17, Psalm 119:142
Humanity
We believe every person possesses intrinsic dignity and worth because we are created in the image of God. Humans were created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through Adam’s sinful disobedience. Mankind can restore this relationship through Christ’s death and resurrection (the Gospel).
Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 3:1-19, Romans 5:17
Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is God and that He unites every believer to Christ at the moment of salvation, and that He permanently indwells every believer. The Holy Spirit came to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and convict people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.
1 Cor. 12:12-13, Ephesians 1:13-14, Galatians 5:16-26, John 16:5-15
Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift of God and is received by people through personal faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for sin. We believe people are saved by grace through faith and that salvation cannot be earned through our own efforts.
Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Corinthians 1:18, Romans 5:8-10
The Church
We believe the universal church is composed of all believers, and that the Lord Jesus is the only Head of His church. We believe the local church, as the body of Christ, is a community of believers in Jesus Christ who are voluntarily joined together to passionately seek the heart of God and live out His mission in the world. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ and bringing the Gospel to every person.
Ephesians 1:20-23, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 20:28
Marriage and Human Sexuality
We believe that marriage is defined by God as the joining of one man and one woman. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage between a man and a woman.
Genesis 2:24; Romans 7:2; I Corinthians 7:10; Matthew 19:4-6
The Future
We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ for His church and His return to earth to reign. People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through the forgiveness and salvation offered to us through Jesus. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelation 20:11-15, John 3:16
